However, the Figoli you see today started long before our name was ever on the door.
our Heritage
It all started in 1970, when Rob’s father, Maurizio Figoli, made the decision to leave everything he knew in Rome and begin a new life in London.
Through a chance meeting with the Mascolo brothers in a small Italian restaurant in Clapham, he unexpectedly found himself at the very beginning of what would become one of the most influential names in modern hairdressing. Maurizio lived and worked alongside the brothers in those formative years, learning directly from them at the highest level. His training was not passed down through an academy or filtered through generations of educators. It came from the source, shaped personally by the Mascolo brothers and rooted in their exacting standards of precision, discipline and uncompromising attention to detail.
Rob was born into that world. Some of his earliest memories are of being in his father’s salon, surrounded by the sound of conversation and the constant rhythm of people coming and going. Long before he ever picked up a pair of scissors himself, hairdressing was already part of his life. He grew up watching Maurizio work and absorbing the standards his father had been taught first-hand.
Maurizio went on to become part of the first generation to carry that philosophy beyond London, eventually establishing the Windsor salon in 1989 and building a reputation grounded in exceptional standards and craftsmanship.
In 1994, Rob officially joined the family business and began learning the craft from his father. In doing so, he inherited a direct line of training back to the Mascolo brothers themselves. The principles Maurizio had learned at their side, precision, discipline, structure and attention to the smallest detail, were passed on directly.
Over the years, Rob developed those foundations into a style and identity of his own, combining the technical discipline he had inherited with instinct, experience and artistry.
When Maurizio retired in 2007, Rob took over the salon, continuing his father’s legacy while beginning to shape it into something distinctly his own.
Six years later, in 2013, Lucy walked through the doors of the salon. Shortly after she and Rob began building a life together. They married in 2017, and in 2019, just nine months before Covid changed the world, they made the decision to downsize, refocus and create something more personal. Together, they opened their first Figoli salon in Sunninghill.
Figoli became the place where their two worlds naturally came together.
Rob brought decades of hairdressing experience, technical skill, instinct and artistry. Lucy brought her creative eye, design-led thinking and instinct for detail, shaping the branding, interiors, website, marketing and overall feel of the salon, while also running the business behind the scenes.
Figoli is also the team around Rob and Lucy. Each person brings their own skill, character and experience, while sharing the same high standards.
The culture is simple: do great work, treat people well and support the people around you.
More than fifty years after Maurizio arrived in London, that respect for the craft still sits at the heart of Figoli.
